YOKA students seed save and learn about soil
In the last couple of weeks of November, YOKA students had the chance to do some seed saving with our basil, while connecting it to our flowering plant cycle lesson. I cleared a small bed of tomato plants and had the students plant carrot seeds! Students also learned why soil is important, what NPK is, and the type of soil our veggies need in order to grow healthy.
What NPK generally helps in a plant.
Students doing the soil test, checking if our soil is loam or not.
Tomatoes are still going at it, so students pruned back the dead leaves found on our plants.
Seeds in the bottles are growing beautifully, they will soon be transplanted to the garden.
