The beets, broccoli, radishes, mustard greens and peas are taking off at the Markham Middle School garden. The beets are growing especially fast, given the unseasonably warm weather. We were able to harvest quite a few radishes, beets and peas. After we a little harvesting students went to work amending the new beds.
We added compost that was generously donated by EcoScraps. Afterward we planted loads of carrots, red onions and garlic. We should see the foliage pop up in just a couple of weeks. After that, we must wait…Root vegetables require a lot of patience!
