Mysterious Sprouting

Last garden class, the students were faced with a perplexing situation. A sprout had come up where no seeds had been planted! We discussed the ways seeds could travel.  The children learned how plants can grow without a gardener. Sometimes seeds are transported by wind, other times by animals. We discovered the seedling in question to be a nasturtium flower, likely an offspring from the previous generation. The students were impressed to learn that seeds are resilient.
