Glassell Park Students LOVE Looking For Friends and Foes!

Last Week, at Glassell Park Elementary School, our students learned all about beneficial and harmful insects- – We call them friends and foes of the garden! But learning should be fun, so we played a little game of Freeze Tag! Some students were “Friends” some students were “Foes” and some students were Plants. When a Friend and a Foe encountered one another, they had to duke it out with a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, while Friends and Plants were the best of buds. Unfortunately, when a Foe and a Plant got together, the Plant turned frozen! Luckily, our Friends were able to unfreeze our Plants so they could continue to play the game. We then went into the garden to search for friends and foes, which the students couldn’t get enough of! Check it out below!

Discussing if this molt is a friend or foe. (Caterpillars are usually FOES since they eat our leaves, but once they turn into Butterflies they become FRIENDS because they pollinate!)
