It was my pleasure to send the first grade class off on summer vacation with a garden tea party today! Energies were certainly high as classes wrap up their year with presentations, parties and graduations. I’m grateful that the teachers were able to fit garden class in their hectic last week.
To celebrate the end of a school year and ring in summer vacation we mixed up some magic garden potions. We infused beets, lemons, cucumbers, pineapple sage and mint and the results were delicious AND nutritious. I explained that immune systems are like invisible shields around our bodies that protect us from viruses and disease. If we take care of these shields we can defend from invading germs!
It seemed as though the students understood the concept and they definitely appreciated the drinks!
Cheers to a fun year and for many more garden joys to come.
