In preparation for our Fungi lesson with Professor Naveen Hyder of Cal Poly Pomona the students finish up their Fungi Kingdom Poster.
Theyve covered alot of ground on knowing the parts of this essential componant of a healthy ecosystem.
Professor Naveen shows them different types of fungus/mushrooms (fruiting part of the mycelium) and is surprised by their knowledge of all parts. They listen attentively to the various functions and relationships of this mysterious undergrowth world.
She takes them for a walk to the mulch heaps, to identify mycelium threads.
She fields lots of questions
We treat the professor to a scrumptious garden salad and a load of fennel to take home as our thank you for spending a full day with all the classes that come in on a friday!
