All About flowers!

On Thursday March 30th, we talked about flowers by starting off with a book called “A reason for a flower.” After reading the book to the students, we went on to talk about two parts of a Lily flower with a drawing I made, the Pistil and the Stamen. The Pistil is the female part of the flower, and the Stamen is the male part of the flower. The Stamen produces the pollen grains while the Pistil is the one who receives the pollen. The students got to examine these parts with real lilies, while using paint brushes to look at the pollen. Afterwards, the students paired up and received a magnifying glass to go explore the garden and find flowers and possibly find the parts we just learned about. We ended with a taste of flower, a broccoli!
