So many wonderful things have been happening at Cheremoya. We had so much fun before the break making nature cookies for the bees and the butterflies. The students creativity shined as they all paired into groups to decorate their snow man, otherwise known as seed men, made out of clay, soil, water and seeds! We will leave these out and expect flowers to grow out of them, making a little treat for the bees and butterflies looking for nectar!
We have a brand new group now coming to garden class to start off 2016! One class loves gardening so much, that this is their third time returning! It’s really amazing to watch these students enthusiasm for coming to the garden and trying everything we’re growing. The new students explored and learned all about the six stages of a plant. The returning class worked on building a healthy balanced plate by creating a guide of the five food groups. We talked about their favorite foods and what category that would fit under on their plate! It’s a great reminder for us all to be mindful of the food we are eating and to include those fresh veggies in our diet!
I was also amazed at how rapidly our peas are growing. It transformed from a budding plant to a massive entanglement of snow peas over the three week break. Our cauliflower and broccoli is also doing great!
