Welcome new gardeners at Atwater Elementary!

The first day of the new semester began with a bang!

The garden was full of pollinators, our seedlings were popping, and my new gardeners were ready to explore.

We went over garden guidelines, especially the importance of asking before harvesting! We played a game of “identify the plant,” where volunteers had to identify a plant based on clues their classmates were giving.

After, we talked about what a seed needs to grow, and looked for good spots around the garden to plant new ones! Students were tasked with finding a place that had moist soil, wasn’t too crowded, and planted theirĀ at an appropriate depth.

I’m very excited to see what sprouts in the next coming weeks!

Until next time,

Ranger Natalie
