Pollinators at Alta Loma!

We took the time to learn about the importance of pollinators and other beneficial insects in the Alta Loma garden.  We specifically talked about bees and how we would not have our beautiful garden without their help.  Some students expressed their fear of the insects and we said it is okay if we are a little scared.  We will respect the bees from far away but appreciate their value.

Daphne Lughes

Originally from Arizona, I was brought out to beautiful Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California where I will be graduating come December with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.  I grew up with a love of gardening from spending summers on my papou’s farm in Greece to helping my parents tend to our personal garden in Arizona.  My passion for the environment and gardening go hand-in-hand and I can’t wait to incorporate lessons from my studies to the students I am teaching at Alta Loma!
