Healthy Plates at Alta Loma!

This week we took to learning and talking about what comprises a healthy diet!  The younger students drew some beautiful pictures of what they thought a healthy plate would look like while the older students broke down our diet into food groups.  Image-1-5

And of course we had some beautiful beets and a large zucchini ready to be harvested! The beets were a hit with the school faculty but not so much with the students (:Image-1

Originally from Arizona, I was brought out to beautiful Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California where I will be graduating come December with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.  I grew up with a love of gardening from spending summers on my papou’s farm in Greece to helping my parents tend to our personal garden in Arizona.  My passion for the environment and gardening go hand-in-hand and I can’t wait to incorporate lessons from my studies to the students I am teaching at Alta Loma!
