Last week we discovered an enemy at 6th Avenue Elementary… hungry ants eating the tops off our baby pea sprouts. Each class had to observe the stunted peas and work together to figure out a solution. Since we didnt want to spray chemicals we decided to make individual barriers out of paper cups from the cafeteria. We weren’t sure if the ants would crawl over our barriers, or if the peas would have trouble getting enough sun, so this an expirament for us. This week we were overjoyed to see our peas growing strong big and healthy and ready to take on the ants! Three cheers for smart young gardners and problem solving skills!
