Nodes and Pruning at 6th Ave

Last week we studied plant needs, made a salad, eplored the garden started lots of seeds, and somehow still had extra time at the end of class! Since our basil and herbs needed pruning we all took a moment to learn how cutting right above the nodes (where a new branch starts) allows the plant to send out new shoots instead of terminate its growth.

Then the students all helped prune our basil plants. They love when they can take on garden management roles!
