EnrichLA’s Interdisciplinary Garden Education Program
Our interdisciplinary curriculum provides youth opportunities to explore in an outdoor setting. Our garden stewards teach K-12 students everything from cooking skills to environmental stewardship and history to social justice. The foundation of our educational programs are rooted in the principals of both place-based and experiential learning models. It is our unique approach which allows urban youth to gain invaluable skills and to create a connection to the world around them. In a standards-focused education system, we give both students and teachers the opportunity to learn in a new, exciting and ever evolving classroom environment- the garden!
Can any public school request a program? A garden steward can teach weekly classes at any school with a garden. If you do not have a garden, we will build you one.
Can I request for a garden steward to teach at my school even if my school doesn’t have funding? Yes! We work with schools to find funding through grants, internal school funding and fundraising.
Interdisciplinary Garden-Based Education Curriculum
What are some examples of subjects taught in a weekly garden class? Nutrition, gardening, writing, ecology and California history.
