The community garden at Avalon Gardens Housing Project is run by Garden Ranger Ed Tellis. Ed is at Avalon Gardens every Tuesday morning working with volunteers to provide garden care. He also reaches out to the local residents and hosts workshops on how to care for the garden space, and effectively grow food organically.
The community garden at Avalon Gardens Housing Project is flourishing thanks to these hot temperatures and seeds that were saved by Diana Heffernan Schrader. During community garden class today we harvested approximately 40 lbs of produce. Pictured below ins one of the residents with her bags of food.

Today, Council Member Curren Price, EnrichLA and residents of Avalon Gardens planted in the new community garden on 88th Place in South Los Angeles. Over 300 seeds and seedlings were planted along with 8 fruit trees.
