Last week at Markham we planted peas, peppers, and arugula. Many of the students were familiar with peas and peppers, however arugula remained a mystery. To give students a sampling of the bounty to come, we made a light salad of arugula, shredded cheese, and walnuts. Yum.
In the garden we checked on our newly planted friends and gave them extra love and care. Students tended to the area by adding water, mulch, and also raked. We even got a chance to plant two more rows of peas by day’s end.
