The garden plots at Markham were ready for planting this week! The previous week students worked hard at prepping them. We planted rows of arugula, peas, and peppers. Delicious.
Students made sure to add compost and water to ensure growth. We also added rings of mulch around the plants, which will provide a host of benefits including protection.
Mr. Raah’s class had the opportunity to finish their recycled school milk carton bird feeders by adding twine and bird seeds. Students had the option of taking their bird feeder home or donating it to the garden. Those that donated their bird feeder to the garden found a nice spot to hang them amongst a established tree. We will be sure to keep our eyes open for any hungry birds!
