The garden is an idyllic place to have students’ inner “artiste” come to life. Hence, we dove into arts and crafts this week amongst the bird chatter. First period students created recycled art masterpieces. They saved milk cartons from their school lunch and transformed them into bird feeders. After reviewing our primary and secondary colors, they decorated the milk cartons with all sorts of designs.
During third period, students created blank recipe cards. They made two – one to take home and the other as a giveaway for select attendees of this Saturday’s Good Food Fair event at the Markham Middle School garden. Each recipe card displays their favorite fruit and/or vegetable.
