All big smiles the kids started pouring, class after class, into the garden for fun outdoor learning and playing. Of course everybody wanted to water, but they also were very interested in learning about tree roots and soil erosion with Charlie, soil composition with Erik, tomato planting with Susan, and seed planting with Alex.
The seed planting project, “see cycle and recycle”, includes planting seeds in small trays and when ready, moving them to recycled lunch milk cartons, which the kids will also decorate. They’ll be able to take some home, but most cartons will be sold as a garden fundraiser at the upcoming “Harvest Festival” in June.
One activity, many disciplines = biology, agriculture, art, economics, math… and while you are having fun!
Would you like to come work with the kids in the garden on Wednesdays, 10-2?
